Studied mechanical engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) with a focus on energy and environmental technologies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Karlsruhe, Germany, with a semester abroad at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in Valencia, Spain. Subsequent doctoral thesis on the economic and environmental assessment of electric vehicle charging strategies at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Several years of professional experience as project manager, research assistant and consultant in numerous research and consulting projects with clients from the energy industry at the Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft in Munich. Focus on the preparation and evaluation of energy-economic climate protection scenarios, CO2 abatement measures, analysis of electricity and system service markets, the ETS and electromobility.

His main focus at sustainable is the development and implementation of climate strategy and management approaches. This includes the collection, balancing and monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1,2 and 3) and consulting on the development of climate targets as well as their implementation pathways (top-down target development, bottom-up potential analysis, scenario modeling).

Steffen joined sustainable in 2022.
