We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sibyl Anwander as Head of our Hamburg office and new Director! Sibyl was born in Switzerland and was already enthusiastic about agriculture as a child – a passion that is reflected in various professional areas and still drives her today.
After studying agronomy with a focus on economics at the ETH in Zurich, she conducted research at the Institute of Agricultural Economics for 10 years before switching to the retail sector: After completing her doctorate on the topic of “Demand-side acceptance of new technologies in the agricultural sector”, she headed the areas of economic policy, sustainability and, at times, quality assurance at the Swiss retailer Coop for 12 years.
In 2015, she took over as head of the Economics and Innovation Division at the Federal Office for the Environment, where she encouraged dialogue with companies and business associations to create framework conditions for a “green economy”.
Her move to Hamburg in 2020 led Sibyl to become self-employed. One of her projects was initially the development of an e-learning for sustainability in procurement and purchasing – the topic of supply chains had already accompanied her since university. In 2021, she joined the Soil & More Impacts team, which has been part of sustainable since 2022.
Regarding her new area of responsibility, she says: “As Head of the Hamburg office, I would like to support the local employees. We want to develop and design the offers and services with a focus on agriculture and nutrition as well as soil and climate. The collection, validation and evaluation of primary data along the supply chain is one of our clear strengths. This includes true cost accounting, the assessment of external environmental and social costs and their integration into decision-making.
